Inspired by the world’s Night Markets and L.A. residents’ love for their city’s diversity, the upcoming two-day KTOWN Night Market will showcase dozens of food purveyors and restaurants representing the amazing scope of local cuisines.

The two day and evening event is expected to draw at least 30,000 visitors, according to organizers Danny Park and (unrelated) Joseph Park. As at classic night markets around the world, admission is free with additional charges for food and drink.

Joining dozens of restaurant and food purveyors’ booths, a first-time-ever food truck line-up will unite three winners of the Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race: Grill ‘Em All, Lime Truck and Seoul Sausage. Curated by the show’s most recent winners, the hand-picked truck selection will also feature the popular Coolhaus ice cream, East L.A. Tacos and White Rabbit, all grouped together in the festival’s “Food Truck Alley.”

The event may be called KTown Night Market but expect much more than Korean BBQ. There’ll be locavore Vietnamese from Phorage, coffee from Café Bene, libations from Stella Rosa wine and lots more in the multi-cultural mix.

The event isn’t just about food. As at many famed night markets, attendees can snap up deals when bargaining at one of the 40 or so community merchandise vendors which will spotlight several of the city’s hottest fashion and product designers.

Entertainment throughout each evening includes carnival games and live performances on an entertainment stage with such acts as Scoop DeVille, Chad Future and K-Pop dance lessons from M.V.P. Elite.

Where: Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools, 701 S. Catalina St., Koreatown.

When: Friday, April 18 from 4 p.m. until midnight; Saturday, April 19 from 2 p.m. until midnight.

Cost: free admission; food and drink an additional charge.

PARKING available at three nearby lots: 3435 Wilshire Blvd., 3440 Wilshire Blvd., and 3350 Wilshire Blvd. Maps and directions.
