BESSEMER, Alabama "Through the Back Door: The Music ThatBridged the Bayou," is a program by storyteller Dolores Hydock that will bepresented on March 6 at 10 a.m. A member of the Alabama Humanities Foundation's RoadScholars Speakers Bureau, Hydock is known as an actress and storyteller, whoseworks include "Silence: the Adventure of a Medieval Warrior Woman" and "Eglamoreand Cristobel: A Medieval Love Story" Hydock will speak on the history of Cajun and Creole musicreaching back to 150 years ago. Hydock will tell stories by Cajun and CreoleMusicians and about how non-Cajuns "slipped through the back door" into "theworld of the spirited people of southwest Louisiana," according to the BessemerPublic Library. Hydock will play samples of music and will provide adiscussion of both traditional and zydeco music from Cajun and Creole artists in Louisiana. This program is sponsored by the Friends of theLibrary.
