A Tucson woman accused of second-degree murder has been sentenced to 16 years in a psychiatric institution under a guilty except insane plea agreement.

Michelle Marie Price will spend the next 16 years in the Arizona State Hospital under the supervision of the Psychiatric Security Review Board for the Nov. 2013 killing of Linda Daley.

Price, 39, had lived with Daley as a houseguest when the killing occurred.

A neighbor called police after finding Daley lying in a pool of blood in her A Mountain-area house. Daley’s dog also was found dead.

Price already was in jail when police connected her to the crime. She had been arrested for a probation violation in a previous case.

In that case Price was accused of stabbing her former boyfriend, the father of her child.

After psychiatric exams she was found competent and later entered into a plea agreement.

She was found guilty of two counts of aggravated assault and sentenced to nine months time served in jail and five years probation.

Court documents in that case said she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and delusional schizophrenia.
