The German branch of Carlsberg has just been fined 62 million euros (around 463 million kroner) by the Bundeskartellamt, the German competition appeals board.
Along with ten other major breweries active in the country (including Bolten, Radeberger, Erzquell, Frueh and Gaffel) and several individuals, Carlsberg was accused of illegal price fixing and it received one of the two highest fines.
The lawsuit was sparked by information provided by one of the participating companies, Anheuser-Busch (Becks), who managed to avoid a fine by playing the key witness.

Carlsbeg has decided to appeal against the decision, but declined to make any comments.
